Capital Refractories will be showcasing their new range of Micanite slip planes @ GIFA 2015, Hall 10, Stand D10

Over the last 12 months Capital Refractories Ltd have been working with a local research foundry to help develop a range of micanite slip planes for use in the Coreless Induction Furnace (CIF), which provides optimum operating performance.

Micanite slip plane products are used in furnaces to provide unrestricted expansion and contraction of the furnace lining with the heating and cooling cycle experienced during operational conditions.

The product description “slip plane” by definition indicates that the micanite allows movement of one substrate against another, however, the fact remains that micanite is an excellent insulator, ironically this is not required in its use between the lining and coil screed.

Our expert knowledge of refractory manufacturing and installation of our products, using our in house installation engineers, into the environment that micanite is used has helped us develop the new range of products, along with our micanite manufacturer.

The aforementioned refractory manufacturing and installation knowhow, and development work at our research foundry has allowed us to develop a range of slip planes that provide the operational requirements of unrestricted expansion and contraction. More importantly it does not act as an “insulator”, as this can result in deep sintering of the working lining, which can be detrimental to the linings performance during heating and cooling.

These new micanites are marketed under the names:

Capital Mica roll

&

Capital Combi mica
