Ceramics expert joins the Capital team

Capital is building on its experience and technologies in refractory shapes and has now recruited Dr Paul Myers as the company’s new group technical manager, ceramics.
Paul, 45, who started his new role at the beginning of July, has a wealth of experience in the forming and development of advanced refractories and technical ceramics.
He said: “I’m looking forward to joining Capital in this exciting new role to focus and grow our capabilities in high performance ceramic shapes for established and new markets.”
Paul will be responsible for product development and technical support for all products at Capital’s facilities in Czech (Capital (SRO) and Middlesborough (Pyemetric) and will work alongside Dr Mike Lamkin.
Before coming to Capital, Paul, who is a keen runner in his spare time, worked for the Monocon Group, Doncaster, for over five years, as global R&D manager and then as technical director. Paul has also worked for Morgan Advanced Materials, Dyson Group plc, and Ceram, now known as Lucideon Ltd.
James Newsome, managing director at Capital Refractories, said: “Paul has an enormous amount of relevant experience to bring to Capital which will help improve and grow our portfolio of technical ceramics. I hope you will join me in offering a very warm welcome to Paul.”
Paul is also chair of the British Standards Institute’s Committee on Refractory Standards including the UK’s principal respective and chair of CEN and ISO on all refractory standards.
He lives in Barnsley with his wife and daughter.
